The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expressed confidence in its ability to maintain dominance in the 2027 general elections, dismissing recent criticism from opposition parties as unfounded and misleading.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the APC described the opposition’s claims as politically motivated and lacking substance.

“Our attention has been drawn to a politically charged and deliberately misleading press release titled ‘No Patriotic Nigerian Will Vote for APC in 2027’ from the stable of the tottering, disjointed and moribund opposition PDP,” Oladejo said.

He dismissed the opposition’s assertion as baseless, stating, “While such rhetoric may make headlines, it lacks both substance and objectivity. The APC categorically rejects this attempt to smear our party and misrepresent the millions of patriotic Nigerians who support us.”

Oladejo emphasized that the electorate would judge political parties based on performance rather than propaganda.

“As 2027 approaches, we are confident that Nigerians will judge all parties not by propaganda or emotional outbursts, but by track records, sincerity of purpose, and the capacity to lead. On all these counts, the APC will stand tall,” he declared.

The APC spokesman argued that patriotism transcends political affiliations and is instead measured by commitment to national development.

“Patriotism was not defined by party lines, but by an unwavering commitment to national growth, peace, unity, and democratic values,” he said.

Oladejo highlighted the APC’s achievements in infrastructure, digital economy, social investment, and agricultural revitalization, noting that even critics could not deny the party’s progress.

“To assert that no patriotic Nigerian would vote for APC in 2027 is not only presumptuous but deeply insulting to the intelligence of the electorate,” he said.

He maintained that Nigerians are discerning and understand the complexities of governance, adding that the APC remains committed to addressing national challenges.

“Nigerians are discerning, and they understand that governance is a complex, evolving task, one that requires patience, vision, and adaptability. The APC continues to provide leadership that is responsive to the challenges facing our country, and reforms are underway to further stabilize the economy, curb insecurity, and create inclusive growth,” Oladejo stated.

While welcoming constructive criticism, the APC spokesman rejected attempts to equate political loyalty with patriotism.

“The ruling party welcomes debate, constructive criticism, and robust engagement. What the party rejects is the attempt to monopolize patriotism or suggest that political allegiance is the sole test of national loyalty,” he said.

The statement reaffirmed the APC’s confidence in its governance record and its ability to retain public support in the 2027 elections.
