Former heavyweight world boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has spoken publicly for the first time since a tragic road accident in Nigeria claimed the lives of two close friends and members of his team.
The crash happened on Monday, December 29, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway and led to the deaths of Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Joshua, who was also in the vehicle, escaped with relatively minor injuries.
The 36-year-old boxer received medical attention and was discharged from hospital on New Year’s Eve before flying back to the United Kingdom on Saturday.
On Sunday, Joshua ended his silence on social media by sharing a photo of himself with the families of the deceased.
He accompanied the image with the caption, “My Brother’s Keeper”.
The photograph, shared across his social media platforms, shows Joshua standing alongside the grieving families in a clear show of support as they mourn their loss.
Both Sina and Latz are scheduled to be buried later on Sunday.

According to reports, the accident occurred after Joshua’s SUV, which was carrying the boxer and three others, suffered brake failure and slammed into a stationary truck.
Joshua had travelled to Nigeria for a holiday following his recent knockout win over Jake Paul.
He reportedly avoided a fatal outcome after moving from the front passenger seat to the back shortly before the crash, as his size was said to be obstructing the driver’s view.
The boxer sustained a fracture to his leg but was described as being in stable condition and did not require emergency medical treatment.
