As Everton prepare to say an emotional goodbye to their historic Goodison Park, former Super Eagles forward, Daniel Amokachi and Alex Iwobi, have been honoured with their goals featured among the most iconic ever scored at the famous ground.

In a special video tribute titled “Best-Ever Premier League Goals at Goodison Park,” released by the Merseyside club, Amokachi’s thunderous finish against Newcastle United in April 1995 and Iwobi’s dramatic last-gasp winner over the same side in March 2022 were among 60 unforgettable strikes selected.

The video is part of Everton’s farewell festivities for the stadium that has been home since 1892.

The club will relocate to the 52,000-capacity Hill Dickinson Stadium ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The compilation includes stunning efforts from Everton greats such as Wayne Rooney, Duncan Ferguson, Mikel Arteta, Tim Cahill, Seamus Coleman, and Kevin Campbell, with both Nigerian stars earning recognition for their moments of brilliance.

Iwobi’s match-winning strike not only showcased his composure and teamwork, capping off a flowing move involving Seamus Coleman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but also came at a pivotal point in Everton’s relegation battle during the 2021/22 campaign.

The Nigerian winger applied the finishing touch to a fantastic team move that also involved full-back Seamus Coleman and English forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The goal was a highlight in Iwobi’s time at the club, which began with a £28 million switch from Arsenal in 2019.

He was lauded for his consistency and effort, eventually earning the Players’ Player of the Season award for 2022–23, thanks in part to his eight assists. Iwobi left Everton for Fulham in September 2023.

Meanwhile, Amokachi’s inclusion cements his legendary status at Goodison Park. The powerful forward joined the club in 1994 following a standout performance at the FIFA World Cup and quickly won fans over with memorable displays.

Signed from Club Brugge in 1994 after shining at the World Cup for Nigeria, Amokachi delivered some unforgettable moments in Everton blue. His fierce strike against Newcastle was one of them.

He is perhaps best remembered for his daring double in the 1995 FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur, when he famously substituted himself onto the pitch without instruction and scored twice, securing a spot in the club’s folklore.

Despite an impressive haul of 33 goals in all competitions for Everton, fellow Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni did not feature in the club’s final selection.

Joseph Yobo, Victor Anichebe, and Ademola Lookman also missed out despite their goal contributions during their time on Merseyside.

With the curtain closing on over a century of memories at Goodison, Everton’s tribute video immortalises two Nigerian football legends whose goals helped shape the club’s Premier League story.
