Mrs. Patience Eno, the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, has passed away following a brief illness.
The tragic news was announced by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, in a statement released on Friday morning.
He disclosed that Mrs. Eno died on Thursday, September 26, 2024, surrounded by her family at the hospital.
In his announcement, Ememobong expressed gratitude on behalf of the governor and his family to those who have offered their support during this trying period.
He noted that “further details will be provided” regarding funeral arrangements, while emphasizing the family’s appreciation for the prayers and kindness shown by well-wishers.
The official statement read, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness. She passed away peacefully at the hospital, on 26th September, 2024, in the presence of her family.”
The statement further asked for prayers and support as the family navigates through this painful loss, while requesting privacy, “The family submits to the will of the Almighty and asks for the prayers and support of kind-hearted individuals during this difficult time. Further details will be provided by the family as necessary. In the meantime, the family kindly requests privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.”
Governor Umo Eno also expressed his deep appreciation to everyone who has stood by the first family, assuring the public that despite this “huge personal loss,” his dedication to serving Akwa Ibom State remains firm and unwavering.
