Zambia and Comoros kept their qualification hopes alive at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after sharing the tournament’s first goalless draw.
The encounter began at a brisk pace, with Comoros carving out the first clear opportunity inside the opening 10 minutes.
Myziane Maolida pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area and fired a low effort that was heroically blocked on the goal line by a Zambian defender.
Comoros appeared to have taken the lead in the 18th minute when Maolida turned home a simple finish from close range following a precise pass by Rafiki Said.
Celebrations were short-lived, however, as the referee consulted the VAR monitor and ruled out the goal for a foul by Yacine Bourhane on Owen Tembo in the build-up.
Both sides pushed for a breakthrough thereafter, creating half-chances but lacking the cutting edge to find the net.
Despite their efforts, neither team could break the stalemate, and the contest ended scoreless.
The result sees Zambia collect a second point to sit second in Group A, while Comoros earn their first point of the tournament.
