Former Nigeria international, Godfrey Oboabona, has urged the Super Eagles to emphasize teamwork as they prepare to face Tunisia in Saturday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations clash.
A win for either side would secure a place in the tournament’s knockout stage, following Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Tanzania in their opener and Tunisia’s 3-1 triumph against Uganda.
Speaking to Footy Africa, Oboabona highlighted that individual brilliance alone cannot win matches, stressing the importance of collective effort.
He encouraged the Super Eagles to work together to overcome the Carthage Eagles.
“Modern football is not about one or two stars shining; it’s about teamwork, discipline, and commitment across the entire squad,” Oboabona said.
“Nigeria has quality in every position, but if a player thinks they can carry the team alone, the ball will be lost and the team will suffer. Success comes when everyone contributes and works together.
“This is African football, it’s physical and demanding. We have the talent, but we must unite and play as a team if we want to progress far in this tournament.”
