AFCON: CAF appoints Cameroon referees for S’Eagles, Mozambique clash

The Confederation of African Football has appointed Cameroon’s Abdou Abdel Mefir as the centre referee for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 clash between Nigeria and Mozambique.

Mefir will be joined by his compatriots Elvis Noupoue and Carine Atezambong as assistant referees.

The Super Eagles and the Mambas will face off at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Monday, with kick-off scheduled for 8 p.m. Nigeria time.

This fixture marks the sixth meeting between the two nations, with Nigeria holding the advantage in their head-to-head record.

Éric Chelle’s side have claimed victory in four of the previous encounters, while the other game ended in a draw.

Notably, the Super Eagles also secured a 3-0 triumph over Mozambique in their only prior AFCON clash back in 2010.

As Nigeria seeks to maintain their dominance, this knockout encounter promises a highly competitive battle for a spot in the quarter-finals.
