The Abia State Government has called on Muslim pilgrims from the state embarking on the 2025 Hajj to pray earnestly for peace and unity in both Abia and Nigeria.

The charge was delivered in Umuahia by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, during a send-off ceremony held in his office.

Addressing the departing pilgrims, Professor Kalu, who spoke on behalf of the state government, urged them to uphold the integrity of Abia while in Saudi Arabia.

He emphasized the importance of being law-abiding, staying spiritually focused, and not deviating from the true purpose of the pilgrimage.

“I urge you to remember Abia and Nigeria in your prayers during this sacred journey. Do not lose focus on the purpose of Hajj. Represent our State with dignity and do not abscond,” he said.

Kalu also appreciated Governor Alex Otti for facilitating the pilgrimage, stating that the administration is deeply committed to fostering religious harmony and the spiritual growth of all residents.

In his earlier remarks, the Chairman of the Abia State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Ali Ukiwo, praised the governor
