The Abia State chapter of the Obidient Movement has announced plans for a massive one-million man march to celebrate the 64th birthday of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on July 19.

According to a joint statement by Movement Coordinator Dr. Chibuzor Obiesili and Media Head Christian Emmanuel, the procession will simultaneously hold across four key locations in Abia State: Umuahia (Okpara Square), Aba (Osisioma Flyover), Uzuakoli (Practising School), and Ohafia (Central Field by Presbyterian Church). The march begins at 10am.

The celebration will feature charitable visits to orphanages, hospitals, and prisons as part of Obi’s humanitarian ideals. The statement described the event as a spontaneous outpouring of support from Nigerians across “different political, ethnic, and religious backgrounds” for a leader who consistently advocates for the masses.

Born July 19, 1961, the former Anambra governor revolutionized Nigeria’s political landscape during the 2023 elections through what became known as the ‘Obi Wave’ – a youth-driven movement that upended traditional voting patterns. An alumnus of Christ the King College, Onitsha and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (Philosophy, 1984), Obi also holds executive education credentials from Harvard Business School and other global institutions.

The statement highlighted Obi’s recent alignment with the opposition coalition adopting ADC as its 2027 platform, quoting his vision: “To dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges and not walls even when those bridges are difficult.” It noted his offer to serve a single term to reset Nigeria while maintaining his belief in North-South power rotation.

“Obi continues to hold sway as a shining light, beacon of hope for the youths and the real face of a New Nigeria,” the release stated, framing the march as grassroots appreciation for his governance advocacy.
