‘Fittest man,’ Odumodublvck teases Peter Obi over airport rush

Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, known by his stage name, Odumodublvck, has appeared to take a playful dig at former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi after encountering him rushing to catch a flight at an airport.

In a video circulating on social media, Obi was seen hurrying through the airport when the rapper spotted him and jokingly described him as the “fittest man”, “always on the move” and “the motion man”.

“Your Excellency! The fittest man. Always on the move. The motion man!” Odumodublvck exclaimed, in remarks that appeared to carry a hint of sarcasm as Obi hurried to catch his flight.

The encounter has attracted attention on social media, with users reacting to the unusual interaction and the former governor’s apparent urgency to board his flight.

The rapper’s remarks appeared to play on Obi’s energetic movements, although it was unclear whether he intended the comments as genuine praise or friendly mockery.

Obi, who finished third in the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party, is preparing for another attempt at Nigeria’s highest political office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former governor is now the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, with former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.

The Obi-Kwankwaso ticket is expected to challenge President Bola Tinubu, who is seeking re-election under the All Progressives Congress.

However, Obi’s renewed presidential ambition comes with considerable political challenges. One of the biggest is the difficulty of building a united opposition capable of mounting a formidable challenge against the ruling party.

His earlier involvement in efforts to establish a broad opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress encountered difficulties, with disagreements, leadership disputes and competing political interests weakening the arrangement.

The development raised concerns about the possibility of opposition votes being divided in 2027, particularly with several influential politicians pursuing separate presidential ambitions.

Another challenge is translating the enthusiasm of his supporters, particularly the Obidient Movement, into a wider electoral structure across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

While his 2023 campaign attracted considerable support among young Nigerians and urban voters, winning the presidency will require broader grassroots mobilisation, stronger party organisation and significant support across the country.

The ruling APC also has the advantage of incumbency, an established political structure and access to a wider network of political stakeholders.
Nevertheless, Obi has continued to engage Nigerians through town hall meetings and public discussions, focusing on insecurity, economic hardship, national unity, education and healthcare.

During his political engagements, the former governor has repeatedly emphasised the need for national unity, arguing that Nigeria must address its divisions to effectively tackle insecurity and other development challenges.

His campaign has also focused on transforming Nigeria’s economy from consumption to production, alongside improving education, healthcare, security and infrastructure.

His airport encounter with Odumodublvck comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 election, with the former governor expected to face a demanding campaign as he seeks to convert his existing support base into the votes needed to win the presidency.
