2027: Keyamo mocks opposition over ‘rig and die’ slogan

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has challenged opposition politicians alleging electoral manipulation to account for the number of people killed during elections.

Keyamo made the remark on Thursday in a post on his X account while reacting to the emerging political slogan, “Rig and Die”, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The minister, who spoke sarcastically, said the slogan should be welcomed, arguing that it would prevent opposition parties from attributing their possible electoral defeats to rigging.

According to him, politicians who lose elections conducted freely and fairly should not use allegations of electoral manipulation to explain their poor performance.

He wrote, “The new buzz phrase ‘rig and die’ should excite all of us and we should all embrace it.”

Keyamo further suggested that those accusing others of rigging elections should be questioned about the number of people killed during the electoral process.

He added, “This is because we will ask them how many ‘riggers’ they killed on the election day, because the number of those killed by them should be directly proportional to the amount of ‘rigging’ that took place!”

He concluded, “In other words, they need to show how many people they killed to prove the election was rigged!! Chai!!”

His comments come amid growing political exchanges among parties and their supporters as preparations and positioning for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
