Greek side, Olympiacos maintained their unbeaten run in the UEFA Europa League league phase after playing out a goalless draw against French club Rennes on Wednesday.
The result at Roazhon Park in France took Olympiacos’ points tally to 10 from four matches, keeping them in contention for a top-eight finish and automatic qualification for the round of 16.
The visitors started brightly and created several scoring opportunities in the first half.
Gustavo Puerta came closest to breaking the deadlock in the ninth minute when his effort struck the post, while Kostas Fortounis also posed a threat to the Rennes defence.
Rennes gradually grew into the contest, with Charlie Cresswell and Jordanian forward Mousa Al-Tamari testing the Olympiacos defence.
However, goalkeeper Stefan Ortega produced important saves to keep the visitors in the game.
The French side thought they had taken the lead in the 43rd minute, but their effort was disallowed for offside, leaving both teams goalless at the break.
Rennes pushed for a late winner and nearly snatched all three points in stoppage time, but Ortega made another crucial save to deny Valentin Rongier.
The draw leaves Olympiacos firmly in the race for a top-eight finish, with four matches remaining in the league phase.
The Greek club will host AC Milan and Hoffenheim in two of their remaining fixtures as they seek to secure direct qualification for the last 16.
