Former Tottenham midfielder, Dele Alli, took a playful dig at Chelsea legend John Terry following the Spurs’ 2-0 victory over their London rivals at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Tottenham secured a memorable away win through an own goal by Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders, who was making his full Premier League debut, and a late individual effort from Mathys Tel.
Chelsea suffered another setback when Cole Palmer was sent off after receiving two quick yellow cards.
The midfielder was booked for a confrontation with Mateus Fernandes before being dismissed for a poor challenge on Conor Gallagher.
The result marked Tottenham’s second league victory at Stamford Bridge in 36 years, with consecutive Premier League wins lifting them to 12th place in the table, their highest position since New Year’s Day.
Former England international Alli was among those celebrating Tottenham’s success, having watched the derby from the stands alongside Terry, Chelsea’s former long-serving captain.
The ex-Spurs midfielder entertained his Instagram followers with videos from the stadium, including footage of himself laughing before turning the camera towards a visibly disappointed Terry following Penders’ own goal.
Alli also shared images of the scoreboard and Tottenham’s celebrations before posting a photograph of the empty seat beside him with the caption: “Empty seat here now?”, while tagging Terry in his posts.
He later rounded off his Instagram Stories with a celebratory picture alongside former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.
Alli spent seven years at Tottenham after joining the club from MK Dons in 2015 for £5m.
During his time with Spurs, he scored 67 goals and registered 59 assists in 269 appearances across all competitions.
The midfielder has also played for Everton, Besiktas and Como.
He earned 37 caps for England between 2015 and 2019 and represented the country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
