Serie A : Nico Paz shines as Como beat Fiorentina 3-1

Como secured an impressive 3-1 away victory over Fiorentina in Serie A on Sunday, October 18, 2026, with Nico Paz delivering an outstanding performance at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The visitors took control of the match with two goals in quick succession during the first half before sealing the win shortly after the restart.

The result strengthened Como’s position in the league table, while Fiorentina remained deep in relegation trouble.

Mattia Liberali opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing with his left foot to register his first Serie A goal.

Just four minutes later, Nico Paz doubled Como’s advantage with a header from Valle’s cross.

Fiorentina responded through Marin Pongracic, who reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute after a scramble following a corner kick.

The home side appeared to have equalised in first-half stoppage time when Pongracic found the net again.

However, the goal was disallowed for offside following a VAR review, allowing Como to retain their narrow lead at the interval.

Como restored their two-goal cushion in the 56th minute through Anastasios Douvikas.

Paz led a swift counterattack before setting up the striker, whose right-footed effort slipped through goalkeeper David de Gea’s legs.

Paz was instrumental throughout the contest, contributing a goal and an assist as Cesc Fabregas’ side demonstrated their attacking quality.

Fiorentina attempted to find a way back into the match, but Como goalkeeper Jean Butez made important saves to deny Nicolò Fagioli.

The visitors also threatened to extend their lead, although several opportunities went unfinished.

The victory leaves Como with 14 points after seven league matches, while Fiorentina remain second from bottom with just four points.

The result represents another setback for Fiorentina under manager Paolo Vanoli, whose team must improve quickly to escape the relegation zone.

Como, meanwhile, will turn their attention to their next UEFA Champions League fixture against Manchester United on Wednesday, October 21, before returning to Serie A action.
