Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, scored twice as Norway defeated Denmark 3-2 in their opening UEFA Nations League fixture on Thursday.
Norway made a quick start in Oslo, taking the lead in the 14th minute through Oscar Bobb, who curled Martin Odegaard’s pass beyond goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Haaland doubled the advantage four minutes later after receiving a long pass from goalkeeper Orjan Nyland before connecting with Antonio Nusa’s through ball and firing between Jorgensen’s legs.
Denmark responded before half-time, with Mikkel Damsgaard reducing the deficit through a well-struck free-kick that left Nyland with no chance.
The visitors continued to press after the restart and eventually drew level in the 60th minute.
Nyland stopped Morten Hjulmand’s initial header from a corner, but Rasmus Hojlund reacted quickest to the rebound and converted.
Norway regained the lead in the 74th minute when Haaland finished clinically from Odegaard’s pass following a short corner to complete his brace.
Denmark pushed for another equaliser but Norway held on for the victory, extending their unbeaten home run in Oslo to 14 matches.
David Wolfe was sent off in stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card.
The result also ended Norway’s long wait for a competitive victory over Denmark, while the Danes have now gone six away Nations League matches without a win.
