Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, says Nigeria are determined to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign on a strong note as they prepare to face Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria will host Madagascar’s Barea in their opening qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Thursday.
The three-time African champions will then travel to Bissau for their second Group fixture against Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus on Tuesday, September 29.
Lookman acknowledged the difficulty of the two fixtures but said the Super Eagles are focused on collecting maximum points from both matches.
“The whole team is really looking forward to it. Two very important matches are coming up, and the opponents are, of course, tough to face,” Lookman said in an interview with Sporty TV, as quoted by Football App.
“But we’re eager to win both of these games. We know the matches will be difficult, but we’ll do everything we can to achieve it.”
The forward’s comments come as Eric Chelle’s side begins preparations for the qualifying campaign, with Nigeria aiming to secure an early advantage in the race for a place at the 2027 AFCON.
The Super Eagles will be seeking a positive start at home before their trip to Guinea-Bissau four days later.
