Residents of Oke Ogba in Akure, the Ondo State capital, have been thrown into mourning following the discovery of the bodies of three siblings on their father’s farm.
The Punch reported that the victims were identified as 11-year-old twins, Joshua and Jacob Jonah, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing.
The children reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday but later left the location to return home while their father remained behind to continue working.
Concern reportedly arose after their father returned home several hours later and discovered that the children were missing. A search was subsequently launched by the family and other residents.
The children were eventually found dead on Saturday near a stream on the farm.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
