Serie A: González, Koopmeiners shine as Juventus beat Parma 2-0

Juventus secured their second consecutive Serie A victory on Saturday, defeating Parma 2-0 at home after second-half goals from substitutes Nico Gonzalez and Teun Koopmeiners.

The Bianconeri dominated possession early on but struggled to create clear-cut chances against a disciplined Parma defence.

Francisco Conceicao came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when his effort struck the post after 30 minutes.

Juventus continued to push, but neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval.

Juventus increased the pressure after the restart, forcing manager Luciano Spalletti to turn to his bench in search of a solution.

Nico Gonzalez and Kerim Alajbegovic were introduced, and Gonzalez made an immediate impact.

The Argentine first tested Parma’s goalkeeper with a powerful effort before finally finding the net a minute later to put Juventus ahead.

The goal opened up the contest, with Juventus creating further opportunities.

Parma goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario produced an impressive save, while Randal Kolo Muani missed a promising one-on-one chance to extend the lead.

Andrea Cambiaso was later forced off with an injury, with Koopmeiners taking his place.

The Dutch midfielder needed little time to make his presence felt, scoring shortly after coming on to double Juventus’ advantage.

Parma pushed forward in search of a response, but Juventus remained composed and protected their lead until the final whistle.

The victory gives Juventus another three points and maintains their perfect start to the Serie A campaign.

Spalletti will also be pleased with the impact of his substitutes, although Cambiaso’s injury could provide a concern ahead of the club’s next fixture.
