Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has dropped to fifth place in the latest ranking of Africa’s most valuable footballers, according to Transfermarkt.
The Nigerian forward, who topped the ranking in 2023, fell to second in 2025 and third ahead of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. He is now valued at €75m.
Osimhen trails Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, who leads the African ranking at €90m, while Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi are all valued at €80m.
Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo also has a €75m valuation, putting him level with Osimhen.
Despite the drop in his market value ranking, Osimhen has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign with Turkish champions Galatasaray.
He has scored four goals and registered one assist in two matches.
The 27-year-old has also climbed to third on Galatasaray’s all-time list of foreign goalscorers and remains a target for several clubs as the transfer window approaches its closing date.
Arsenal are currently regarded as the leading potential destination, while Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal are also monitoring the striker.
On the global list, Osimhen is ranked 20th among the world’s most valuable forwards. Among recognised centre-forwards, he occupies eighth position.
Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland leads the centre-forward rankings with a €220m valuation, followed by Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe at €200m and Argentina’s Julian Alvarez at €120m.
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez are both valued at €85m, while Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro are each worth €80m.
Osimhen remains the most valuable Nigerian player and the most valuable footballer in the Turkish Super Lig.
He has scored 63 goals in 76 appearances for Galatasaray since joining the club.
His market value also reflects his place among Africa’s biggest transfers.
His move from Lille to Napoli in 2023 was valued at $91m, while his permanent switch from Napoli to Galatasaray was reportedly worth $87m.
Osimhen therefore features twice among Africa’s 10 most expensive transfers.
Ivory Coast’s Yan Diomande tops the all-time list following his reported $144m transfer from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid, while former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe’s $92m move from Lille ranks second.
At €35m, Atletico Madrid winger Ademola Lookman is the other Nigerian among Africa’s most valuable players.
Lookman has continued to play an influential role for his Spanish club and was Nigeria’s leading creative outlet as the Super Eagles finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen was also among Nigeria’s standout performers at the tournament.
