Egypt coach Hassan collapses amid wives’ dramatic fight

Egypt head coach, Hossam Hassan, reportedly collapsed while attempting to separate a fight between his two wives at a hotel café in Porto Marina, Egypt, during a holiday on the country’s northern coast.

The incident reportedly began with an argument between his first wife, Howaida Al-Gharbawi, and his second wife, Dina “Dan Adam” Mustafa, before the dispute escalated into a physical confrontation in front of holidaymakers.

Relatives reportedly intervened as the situation intensified, while hotel security was called to restore order.

Both women were said to have suffered cuts and bruises during the altercation.

Hassan allegedly became overwhelmed by the confrontation and fainted while trying to stop the two women from fighting.

However, his lawyer later denied reports that the Egypt coach had suffered a serious health crisis, insisting that he was in good health.

The incident was followed by Hassan’s reported decision to divorce his first wife, Howaida.

He is said to have signed the divorce papers at a legal registrar’s office in Cairo.

Hassan and Howaida had been married for several decades and have three children together.

His second marriage to Dan Adam took place in 2015 while he was still married to Howaida.

The couple reportedly separated briefly in 2022 before reconciling.

Mohamed Shams, the legal representative of Dan Adam, told Sky News Arabia, “We hoped it wouldn’t come to divorce, but things escalated to this level.”

Shams also claimed that his client was the victim of a “premeditated attack” during the incident at Porto Marina.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Hamad, a lawyer representing Howaida’s family, declined to provide details about the separation, saying the family had chosen to remain silent.

Under Egyptian law, a Muslim man can legally have up to four wives at the same time.

The law also requires the state registrar to notify existing wives when a new marriage is registered.

Hassan has been Egypt’s head coach since 2024 and recently led the Pharaohs to the last 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Egypt’s campaign ended with a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Argentina in Atlanta.

He subsequently renewed his contract with the national team, keeping him in charge until 2030.
