Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have revealed that they chose to exchange their wedding vows at home, opting for a private ceremony surrounded by their children rather than a lavish celebration.
The couple, who had been together for nearly a decade, got married on August 10, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the day they first met while Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid.
Speaking to Vogue ahead of the ceremony, Rodríguez explained that holding the wedding in their living room was a deliberate decision aimed at creating a lasting family memory.
“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives,” the model said.
She added, “In 30 years’ time I want the children to think, ‘Something wonderful happened at this table—the wedding vows of our parents.”
Ronaldo, 41, joked about whether the same setting would remain unchanged in the future.
“It probably won’t be the same table,” Ronaldo interjected. “We might change the decor.”
The couple also revealed that the intimate ceremony may not be their only wedding celebration.
Rodríguez said they intend to organise a larger event involving relatives and friends at a later date.
“In the future we will have a big wedding, so we can celebrate with family and friends,” she said.
Rodríguez explained that a demanding year filled with professional commitments, competitions and raising their children influenced their decision to keep the occasion simple.
“When I was a little girl,” she said, “I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress, a crown full of diamonds. And now I’m saying: no.”
“I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home,” Rodríguez continued.
“Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: We have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate—that’s more unusual for us.”
After the ceremony, Rodríguez told Vogue that the day had unfolded exactly as she had hoped.
“It was exactly as I’d imagined it. Intimate, full of love, and with our family in the most important starring role. I couldn’t hold back the tears.”
Ronaldo and Rodríguez announced their engagement in August 2025 after years together.
Rodríguez shared photos of her engagement ring, reportedly featuring a 37-carat stone, alongside the announcement.
“Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives,” the post was captioned.
Ronaldo has five children. His eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., is 16, while twins Eva and Mateo, now nine, were born via surrogacy in 2017.
The football star and Rodríguez later welcomed daughters Alana, eight, and Bella, four. Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, died during childbirth.
Reflecting on the loss in her documentary series, “I Am Georgina,” Rodríguez spoke about experiencing profound grief alongside the joy of motherhood.
“My priority right now is my family and my children,” she said. “I’m so happy and so thankful.”
Rodríguez added, “Life goes on. I have reasons to move on and be strong.”
