Cameroon midfielder Monique Ngock has been named the standout player of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following the Indomitable Lionesses’ historic triumph.
Ngock was recognised as the tournament’s best player after playing a key role in Cameroon’s successful campaign.
Malawi forward Temwa Chawinga claimed the Golden Boot after finishing the competition with five goals and two assists.
Her performances came during Malawi’s historic first appearance at the Women’s AFCON.
Chawinga edged a group of players who also scored five goals, including Zambia’s Barbra Banda, Ivory Coast forward Ines Konan and Cameroon’s Marie Ngah, thanks to her superior assist tally.
The best goalkeeper award went to Cameroon and Benfica shot-stopper Michaely Bihina, whose heroics proved decisive during the knockout stages.
Bihina produced two outstanding displays against Nigeria in the quarter-finals and Morocco in the semi-finals. Against Morocco, she saved a penalty late in extra time before making three further saves during the shootout to send Cameroon through to the final.
The 2026 WAFCON individual awards were completed with Algeria receiving the Fair Play Award.
