Millwall winger, Femi Azeez, is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during the club’s 2-0 Championship victory over Bristol City on Saturday.
The Nigerian midfielder started the opening-day fixture at Ashton Gate Stadium but was withdrawn after just 30 minutes following discomfort in his hamstring.
Kyrell Lisbie came on as his replacement.
Millwall are yet to determine the seriousness of the injury, with manager Alex Neil saying the club will need to wait for further assessment before establishing the extent of the problem.
“He just says he felt something in his hamstring,” Neil told NewsAtDen in quotes revealed by Southwark News.
“We’re hoping that it’s not going to be anything significant. I don’t think it is at this stage from speaking to him.
“But I could’ve said that about another four players that are probably sitting at the treatment table now.
“I don’t want to say too much about it. We hope Femi’s fine. He’s been a talisman for us.”
The injury is an early concern for Millwall after Azeez played a key role in their 2025/26 campaign, recording 11 goals and seven assists in 37 league appearances as the club finished third and secured a place in the promotion playoffs.
His impressive performances earned him a spot in the Championship Team of the Season and a first senior invitation to the Nigeria national team.
Azeez subsequently made an immediate impression with the Super Eagles at the 2026 Unity Cup in May.
He scored twice against Zimbabwe before setting up a goal in Nigeria’s 3-0 win over Jamaica in the final.
The 25-year-old has also emerged as a transfer target for Hull City amid reports that he is keen to secure a move to the Premier League.
For now, Azeez will undergo further assessment as Millwall hope the hamstring problem is not serious enough to rule him out for a prolonged period.
