The race for the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot is set to intensify in the 2026/27 season, with Nigerian forwards Victor Osimhen and Paul Onuachu facing fresh competition from some of Europe’s biggest strikers.
Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, claimed the league’s top-scorer award in the 2024/25 campaign after finding the net 26 times and providing five assists.
He finished that season with an impressive 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
The Nigerian was unable to retain the award last season, with compatriot Onuachu and Uzbekistan international Eldor Shomurodov sharing the Golden Boot after scoring 22 league goals each.
Despite an injury-hit campaign, Osimhen still recorded 22 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances for Galatasaray across competitions.
He will now be aiming to reclaim the individual award while helping Galatasaray defend their title and make an impact in the Champions League.
The champions open their league campaign against newly promoted Corum on Friday.
Paul Onuachu (Trabzonspor)
Onuachu enters the new campaign as one of the two reigning Golden Boot winners after his 22-goal league haul last season.
The striker could have an even stronger supporting cast this time following the arrival of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah at Trabzonspor.
With Salah also capable of producing goals and assists, Onuachu will hope the partnership can help him improve on last season’s tally and boost Trabzonspor’s title ambitions.
Trabzonspor begin their campaign away to Kasimpasa on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah (Trabzonspor)
Salah’s move to Turkey has added another major name to the Golden Boot conversation.
The Egyptian joined Trabzonspor after nine years at Liverpool, where he scored 257 goals and registered 123 assists in 442 appearances across all competitions.
His scoring record remains formidable, with 46 goals and 33 assists in 93 appearances over his final two seasons in England.
With Salah now in the Super Lig, the reigning Golden Boot winners are likely to face one of their toughest challenges for the award.
Romelu Lukaku (Fenerbahce – incoming)
Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku is another high-profile forward expected to enter the Golden Boot race following his imminent move to Fenerbahce.
Lukaku is set to join the Turkish title challengers from Napoli, where he spent two seasons after arriving from Chelsea.
His time in Naples produced 15 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, although injuries limited him to only seven appearances during his second season.
The Belgian will be looking to rediscover his best form in Turkey after impressing at the World Cup with the Red Devils.
With Osimhen, Onuachu, Salah and Lukaku all expected to feature prominently, the 2026/27 Super Lig Golden Boot race could develop into one of the most closely contested in recent seasons.
