Chelsea will host League One side Luton Town in the second round of the 2026/27 Carabao Cup, while Newcastle United will welcome Championship club West Bromwich Albion.
The draw, conducted on Monday night, also handed Tottenham Hotspur a home tie against Charlton Athletic, while Fulham will entertain AFC Wimbledon.
Chelsea’s clash with Luton will be particularly significant for new head coach Xabi Alonso, as it is expected to be his first competitive match in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Brentford face a difficult away trip to Birmingham City, while Ipswich Town will host fellow Championship side Leicester City.
In the northern section, Nottingham Forest will welcome Premier League newcomers Leeds United to the City Ground in an all-Premier League encounter.
Newcastle, meanwhile, will begin their campaign under new head coach Matthias Jaissle at home against West Bromwich Albion.
Everton have also been drawn away, with David Moyes set to return to Preston North End, where he previously played and managed.
Newly promoted Hull City face an away trip to Stoke City, while Wolves will travel to Sheffield Wednesday.
The second-round fixtures are scheduled to be played during the week commencing August 24, with the exact dates and kick-off times to be confirmed.
The Carabao Cup will continue through the season, with the third round scheduled for the weeks commencing September 7 and 14.
The final is set for Wembley on March 21, 2027.
Manchester City are the defending champions after beating Arsenal in last season’s final, with Nico O’Reilly scoring twice for Pep Guardiola’s side.
