The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has announced a fresh set of appointments into his campaign organisation as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship election.
The appointments, which take effect immediately, are aimed at strengthening the campaign structure across the state and boosting grassroots mobilisation ahead of the poll.
The development follows the earlier appointment of Chief Yemi Aderibigbe as the Director-General of the campaign organisation.
According to a statement issued in Ibadan on Thursday, Hon. Sola Ogunbode has been named Deputy Director-General and will assist in coordinating campaign activities across the state.
The statement added that Barrister Lowo Obisesan, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape and Hon. Rasaq Raji have been appointed Assistant Directors-General for Oyo South, Oyo Central and Oyo North senatorial districts respectively.
The APC candidate said the appointments were designed to strengthen coordination across the three senatorial zones and position the party for success in the next governorship election.
“The appointments are expected to deepen grassroots mobilisation, enhance coordination across the three senatorial districts and reinforce the campaign’s readiness ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state,” the statement read.
Alli expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed officials, noting that their experience and commitment would contribute significantly to the campaign’s objectives.
He also assured party members that the campaign would accommodate all interests within the APC.
“Let me assure all our party men and women that this campaign will be all-inclusive. No one will be left behind.
Every ward, every local government and every interest group within our party has a role to play in this project,” he said.
The senator added, “We are one APC family. The task ahead is huge, but with unity of purpose, we will achieve it together.”
Among the appointees, Rasaq Raji is a prominent APC chieftain from Igbeti in Olorunsogo Local Government Area of the state and is widely regarded as a grassroots mobiliser.
Asimiyu Alarape previously served as Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly between 1999 and 2003.
He was also Minority Leader of the Assembly from 2019 to 2023 and later served as Special Adviser during the administration of former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Lowo Obisesan, a legal practitioner and senior chief in Ibadan, was Commissioner for Environment during the administration of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi. He is also the founder of Black and White Law Chamber.
