Former Crystal Palace owner, Simon Jordan, has cast doubt on Anthony Joshua’s dramatic second-round knockout victory over Kristian Prenga, claiming the fight did not appear genuine after the British heavyweight recovered from two early knockdowns to stop his opponent.
Joshua endured a nightmare start in the July 25, 2026 contest as Albanian heavyweight Prenga floored him within the opening 20 seconds with a powerful right uppercut.
Moments later, another heavy right hand sent the former world champion crashing to the canvas for a second time.
Despite the shaky opening round, Joshua returned for the second with renewed urgency, using his jab effectively before turning the fight around and finishing Prenga by knockout.
Reacting on social media after the bout, Jordan suggested the contest raised questions, arguing that the dramatic shift in momentum did not look convincing.
“Not having that… #anthonyjoshua fight,” Jordan posted.
“Dropped twice and sets the tempo, how’s that ? … Prenga totally different in 2nd.
“Something not quite right, all designed to rinse maximum amount of money…”
Jordan’s comments drew a swift response from Matchroom Boxing chief executive Frank Smith, who dismissed the claims during an appearance on The Stomping Ground.
“There’s no difference here. It is quite a wild accusation if he’s suggesting [the fight was fixed]. It’s hard to read it any differently.
“But reading all the comments, everyone seems to say the same thing. Shut up, Simon. What a wally.
“I’m sure he’ll explain himself in his radio show. It’s Simon Jordan. He’s the king of being divisive. Gets the people going.
“I don’t read much into it, personally. I’m not saying I agree with the statement, but like what a wild thing to say.
“You think it was all part of the plan? Got dropped, got back up, then dropped. Okay. Thanks, Simon. Crazy man.”
