An associate of popular music promoter and socialite Samson Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, has dismissed widespread rumours of his death following a road accident in Lagos State.
The associate, Akin Abolade, said Sam Larry survived the crash and is currently receiving treatment, although the full extent of his injuries remains unclear.
According to reports, the accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road when the vehicle conveying Sam Larry reportedly collided with a trailer. Images and videos circulating on social media showed the vehicle badly damaged.
The crash was also reported to have claimed the life of Sam Larry’s bouncer, identified simply as Wale, who allegedly died at the scene.
Addressing the rumours during an interview, Abolade said he had spoken with the music promoter after the accident.
“Yes, he’s alive and not dead, but his condition cannot be ascertained because of how bad the accident was. We spoke after the accident. He’s alive, and I’m sure of that,” he said.
Abolade, however, said he could not confirm reports circulating on social media claiming that Sam Larry sustained severe leg injuries that could lead to amputation.
The accident attracted widespread attention after comedian and master of ceremonies, Mario Wazobia, appealed to the public to pray for the music promoter, saying he had been hospitalised following the crash.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from Sam Larry or his management regarding his condition.
