The Federal Capital Territory Administration has launched its 2025 promotion exercise for more than 13,000 workers in the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority.
The Punch reported that the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the exercise received approval from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Ezeh said the promotion exercise commenced on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and is expected to last 10 days. He explained that it would involve over 13,000 civil servants spread across 150 cadres and grade levels.
According to him, the exercise aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is intended to support the career progression of qualified officers within the civil service.
“As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion exercise for over 13,000 FCT civil servants for the year 2025.
“The exercise is expected to commence on July 1, 2026, for a period of 10 days,” the statement read.
Ezeh further revealed that Wike had instructed the commission to conclude arrangements for the 2026 promotion exercise before the end of the year to guarantee timely advancement opportunities for eligible employees.
“The Minister further directed the commission to ensure that the 2026 promotion exercise is also conducted before the end of the year to ensure all eligible officers are given the opportunity to grow in the service.
“He directed the commission to work with all relevant agencies of the FCTA to ensure a hitch-free exercise, such that all issues which arose from the previous exercise do not recur,” he added.
The commission chairman assured workers taking part in the exercise that adequate preparations had been made to ensure a smooth and transparent process. He also appealed to candidates to remain calm and patient throughout the exercise.
He wished all participants success in the computer-based promotion examination.
The commission also highlighted that it became the first civil service commission in Nigeria to introduce Computer-Based Testing for promotion examinations in 2024, less than six months after its inauguration in March of that year.
