Nigeria’s Super Eagles have arrived in Portugal Portugal ahead of next Wednesday’s international friendly against the hosts.
The team’s arrival was confirmed by media officer Promise Efoghe, who disclosed that the squad and officials had already settled in Lisbon Lisbon for the fixture.
Efoghe stated that 19 players travelled from Poland Poland to Portugal for the match build-up.
He added that Alex Iwobi Alex Iwobi and Genk defender Christian Akpan have linked up with the rest of the squad in Lisbon, while Samuel Chukwueze Samuel Chukwueze is expected to arrive on Friday.

The clash with Portugal is the second of two international friendlies lined up for the Super Eagles during this window.
In their first warm-up match against Poland Poland in Warsaw Warsaw on Wednesday, the game ended 2-2 after a stoppage-time equaliser.
Goals from Terem Moffi Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu Paul Onuachu had put Nigeria 2-1 ahead in the closing stages, before they conceded a late equaliser via a spectacular strike from a Polish player.
This will be only the second meeting between both sides, with Portugal Portugal winning the first encounter, also a friendly, in Lisbon in 2022 by 4-0.
The Super Eagles are using the matches as preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin in September 2026.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group L alongside Tanzania Tanzania, Madagascar Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau Guinea-Bissau.
At the 2025 AFCON in Morocco Morocco, Eric Chelle led the Super Eagles to a third-place finish after a penalty shootout victory over Egypt Egypt national football team.
The team, however, failed to qualify for this year’s FIFA World Cup after finishing second behind South Africa.
Despite that, Nigeria earned a place in the African playoff in Morocco but lost on penalties to the Democratic Republic of Congo DR Congo national football team in the final.
The Congolese went on to secure World Cup qualification for the first time since 1974 in the former West Germany, after edging Jamaica 1-0 in the Intercontinental playoff final in Mexico Mexico.
