FRSC commends officers on Eid el-Kabir patrol

The Federal Road Safety Corps has commended its personnel deployed for the ongoing Eid el-Kabir special patrol operations across Nigeria, praising their performance in improving highway safety and easing traffic flow during the festive period.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, gave the commendation after receiving field reports from supervisory teams monitoring the nationwide exercise.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the Corps Marshal described the officers’ conduct as professional and effective.

He said personnel had shown strong commitment in carrying out their duties, noting that their efforts had contributed to safer roads during the celebrations.

“The commitment and gallantry demonstrated by the personnel have contributed significantly to the successes recorded so far in ensuring safer highways and smoother traffic flow during the festive period,” he said.

Mohammed urged officers to sustain their performance throughout the operation, adding that continued discipline and vigilance were necessary to maintain progress recorded so far.

He also attributed the success of the patrols to cooperation from motorists, while calling for continued compliance with road safety regulations.

“The positive impact of the special patrol operations has been largely driven by the unwavering commitment of FRSC personnel as well as the cooperation received from members of the motoring public,” he said.

The Corps Marshal warned that despite improvements, some drivers still engage in dangerous practices that increase the risk of crashes, including speeding, overloading, reckless overtaking, and phone use while driving.

He urged motorists to exercise caution, stressing that discipline on the highways remains essential.

“Road safety is a shared responsibility and the road does not forgive mistakes,” he cautioned.

The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining enforcement, rescue operations, and public awareness campaigns throughout and beyond the festive season to ensure safer roads nationwide.
