Bala Mohammed denies Jonathan running mate speculation

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed reports linking him to a proposed presidential ticket with former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 general election.

The governor was reacting to claims circulating on social media that he was being considered as Jonathan’s running mate following the former president’s emergence as the presidential candidate of a faction within the Peoples Democratic Party.

The speculation gained momentum after political commentators suggested that Mohammed could be paired with Jonathan for the 2027 presidential contest.

However, in a statement posted on his verified social media account, the Bauchi governor denied any involvement in such political arrangements and clarified his political plans.

“I appreciate the interest in my political future. However, my attention remains focused on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” Mohammed stated.

He urged members of the public to disregard reports suggesting that he was pursuing any other political office or alliance.

“Any information indicating a different political direction should be treated as speculation and does not reflect my current political aspirations,” he added.

Mohammed recently left the Peoples Democratic Party and joined the Allied Peoples Movement amid lingering leadership disagreements and internal crises within the opposition party.
