A 41-year-old man, Kelvin Evans, has been sentenced to two years in prison in the United States after breaking into a vehicle and stealing hard drives reportedly containing unreleased music linked to Beyoncé.
Evans pleaded guilty last year in Atlanta, Georgia, to charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass. A judge also imposed an additional three years of probation following his prison term.
Court records show that on 8 July 2025, Evans broke into a rented Jeep Wagoneer belonging to a choreographer and a dancer working with Beyoncé, during the period the singer’s Cowboy Carter tour was scheduled to arrive in Atlanta.
The victims later returned to discover the vehicle’s rear window smashed and their luggage missing. Authorities have since not recovered the stolen hard drives or other items.
Evans accepted a plea deal on Tuesday, just before his trial was set to begin, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office.
His lawyer told the judge his client was “hoping for a future where he can make money legitimately and be part of society like the rest of us”.
Jury selection had begun earlier in the week, during which prosecutors presented surveillance footage showing a red Hyundai allegedly driven by Evans arriving near the rental car in a parking garage.
Another video reportedly showed the same vehicle at an apartment complex, where Evans was seen handling suitcases believed to belong to Beyoncé choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue.
Grant and Blue told police that the stolen items included two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, luxury clothing and accessories, and hard drives that investigators said contained unreleased Beyoncé material.
Grant also told authorities he was carrying “personal sensitive information” belonging to Beyoncé.
Investigators said tracking data from the stolen laptops placed them at the location seen in the second video.
As part of the ruling, Evans has been ordered to stay away from both the victims and the parking garage where the theft occurred.
He has remained in custody since his arrest in August last year.
The incident took place shortly before Beyoncé began the four-night Atlanta leg of her Cowboy Carter tour at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
