FG to partially close Ikorodu–Sagamu road for repairs

The Federal Ministry of Works has announced a partial closure of some sections of the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road starting from Monday to enable the completion of ongoing reconstruction works.

The Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Mr Olayiwola Komolafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

He explained that the decision followed a directive from the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, instructing the contractor, Messrs Arab Contractors, to return to critical portions of the highway to fast-track delivery of the project.

According to Komolafe, the affected stretches include the Ikorodu Roundabout to Sabo Junction axis in Lagos, as well as the Cement to Coca-Cola corridor heading into Sagamu.

He added that traffic moving from Ikorodu towards Sagamu would be redirected through construction zones under a counterflow traffic arrangement.

Komolafe further stated that the reconstruction exercise would span three months to allow for proper execution of works and curing of the rigid pavement.

He noted that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority would be deployed to the area to manage vehicular movement throughout the period.

He appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic personnel and security agencies during the diversion.

Komolafe also expressed regret over any inconvenience the project might cause road users.
