Malawi U-20 women’s national team skipper, Laticia Chinyamula, has expressed confidence that the side is determined to put up a strong showing when they face Nigeria’s Nigeria Falconets in the decisive qualifying fixture.
The Young Scorchers, coached by Maggie Chombo, are chasing a historic first qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
They suffered a 2–0 defeat in the first leg of the final qualifying round against Moses Aduku’s team at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne last weekend.
Heading into the return leg, Malawi face a tough task as they must win by at least three unanswered goals to secure a ticket to Poland 2026.
Despite the challenge, Chinyamula remains upbeat about their chances and insists the team will continue to battle until the end.
“We know what this match means to the nation, and as players we are ready to give everything on the pitch. We believe in ourselves, and we will fight until the final whistle,” Chinyamula told a press conference ahead of the game.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm local time (2pm Nigeria time).
