British tennis player, Emma Raducanu, has pulled out of the 2026 Italian Open as she continues to recover from a post-viral illness that has kept her out of action for the past two months.
Raducanu announced her withdrawal shortly after fulfilling her pre-tournament media obligations, explaining that she intends to return to competition only when she is “100% ready”.
The former US Open champion has been absent from the tour since competing at Indian Wells in March, forcing her to miss tournaments in Miami, Linz and Madrid.
Her extended spell on the sidelines has also affected her world ranking and preparations ahead of the French Open, where her participation is now in doubt.
Raducanu is currently focused on regaining full fitness as she works toward a possible return to the court.
