Juventus missed the opportunity to strengthen their grip on a Champions League qualifying spot in Serie A after being held to a 1-1 draw by already-relegated Hellas Verona.
The result means Juventus failed to move five points clear of Como in the race for the top four, especially frustrating after Como had earlier dropped points against Napoli.
Despite extending their unbeaten league run to nine matches, the Bianconeri will feel this was a missed chance to pull away.
Juventus started the game on the front foot, with Jonathan David denied early on by a crucial block from Andrias Edmundsson, before Bremer rattled the crossbar with a header from Pierre Kalulu’s delivery.
However, the breakthrough came against the run of play when Bremer lost possession in a dangerous area. After a mix-up, Verona capitalised through Domagoj Bradaric’s delivery, which was converted by Kieron Bowie to put the visitors ahead.
After the break, Luciano Spalletti’s side responded with greater urgency. Half-time substitute Dusan Vlahovic restored parity in style on 62 minutes, curling a superb free-kick over the wall and into the bottom corner.
Dusan Vlahovic has now further strengthened his reputation from set pieces, while Juventus pushed hard for a winner.
Francisco Conceição was twice denied by outstanding saves from Lorenzo Montipò, and Jeremie Boga also saw a close-range effort blocked as Verona defended resolutely.
In stoppage time, Edon Zhegrova nearly snatched all three points, but Montipò produced another decisive save to tip his effort onto the post, ensuring Verona held on for a point.
Hellas Verona remain rooted to their fate after relegation was already confirmed, but they frustrated Juventus enough to take something from the match.
Statistically, Juventus were dominant, generating 2.48 expected goals from 22 shots compared to Verona’s 0.29 xG, but they were unable to convert their superiority into victory.
Across Europe’s top leagues, Vlahovic’s free-kick strike also highlighted his growing set-piece influence, he has now scored five direct free-kicks in Serie A since 2022-23, a total only bettered by Alejandro Grimaldo in the big five leagues over that period.
