Two Nigerians arrested in India over alleged drug trafficking

Indian police have arrested two Nigerian nationals over their alleged involvement in drug trafficking in South Delhi.

According to a report by The Times of India, the suspects were apprehended in the Maidan Garhi area following a targeted operation based on intelligence received by law enforcement officials.

Authorities disclosed that the operation was launched after receiving “specific intelligence” on April 27, indicating that two individuals were expected to arrive in the area to deliver illegal substances.

“Acting on the tip-off, a team was deployed to the location, where the suspects were intercepted around 10:30 p.m. while riding a scooter,” the police said.

Additional substances seized included 13 grams of MDMA and 85 grams of methaqualone, both considered intermediate quantities under Indian law.

Police identified the suspects as 26-year-old Chijioke Wisdom, said to be from Lagos, and 43-year-old Chiqozie, reportedly from Owerri in Imo State.

Investigators also revealed that both men were residing in India without valid visas.
