Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has reiterated his claim that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is pursuing a plan to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Fayose made the allegation on Tuesday during a visit to the monarch’s private residence in Bodija, Ibadan, where he expressed solidarity with the traditional institution.
Speaking during the visit, Fayose said he was in Ibadan to stand with the Olubadan and insisted that his earlier claims were based on credible intelligence.
“I came to identify with the traditional institution. The truth about this matter will soon come to light,” he said.
The former governor maintained that his allegations were not speculative, stressing that they were backed by reliable information.
“I stand by everything I have said. These disclosures are based on facts available to me and insights from dependable sources,” Fayose added.
He further alleged that there were coordinated efforts targeting the monarch, suggesting that recent developments point to deeper issues.
“What has happened in the last 48 hours shows there is more to this than meets the eye,” he stated.
Fayose also revisited his earlier claim concerning an alleged ₦50 billion issue, noting that it was initially raised by a government official and later supported with evidence.
According to him, there were plans to query the Olubadan over his alleged involvement in a disputed coronation, warning that actions perceived as undermining the traditional institution might persist.
Despite the claims, the Olubadan, Oba Ladoja, responded calmly, appreciating Fayose for the visit and his concern.
“Thank you for coming and for drawing our attention to this development,” the monarch said.
He assured that the matter would be resolved internally, emphasizing the role of elders in maintaining peace and unity in Ibadanland.
“We have elders in Ibadan who will handle this. It is a family matter, and we will resolve it amicably because our people cherish the monarchy,” he added.
