A star from the BBC dance competition Strictly Come Dancing in the United Kingdom, who was arrested last year on suspicion of rape, will not face criminal charges, police have confirmed.
The man, whose identity has never been revealed, was taken into custody on 13 October 2025 and released on bail while under investigation.
On Tuesday, Hertfordshire Police said they had consulted the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives concluded there was “insufficient evidence” to bring criminal charges.
At the time of the arrest, The Sun reported that the alleged incident involved a woman who had met the man through his involvement in the show, but was neither a contestant nor a professional dancer.
The newspaper noted that the allegation followed a BBC event and was unrelated to the most recent series of Strictly.
Filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, the BBC competition airs annually from September to December.
In a statement on Tuesday, Hertfordshire Police said, “There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape.
“The man, who had his bail extended on Tuesday 6 January until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, to allow further enquiries to take place, will face no further action.
“Early advice was sought from the Crown Prosecution Service, but detectives determined that there was insufficient evidence to bring forward criminal charges.”
The unnamed star’s arrest in October followed a separate arrest in August of another man linked to the hit BBC show, who was also investigated on suspicion of rape.
The Metropolitan Police added that the second individual was suspected of “non-consensual intimate image abuse,” though his specific role in the programme remains unclear.
