Super Falcons defender Plumptre begins rehabilitation after successful surgery

Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has begun rehabilitation after undergoing successful surgery on her left foot.

The defender had the operation last weekend after suffering the setback and is now expected to spend several months on the sidelines.

Sharing an update on social media, Plumptre reflected on returning home for the procedure and expressed appreciation for the support around her.

“The most beautiful week back home for surgery,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Grateful to be supported and surrounded by my @ittihadladiesclub family during this chapter and looking forward to the opportunity for more personal and collective growth – the journey.”

This is the second time the former Leicester City W.F.C. player has been forced out through injury since joining Al-Ittihad Ladies Club.

Plumptre previously suffered a serious injury while playing for the Saudi club in March 2024, just after making an impressive start to life at the club, where she netted eight goals in 12 appearances.

That injury kept her out for about six months and also ruled her out of the football event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris because of fitness concerns.
