Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad Ladies have confirmed that Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has successfully undergone surgery on a foot injury.
The 31-year-old is set to be out for several months as she recovers, marking the second significant injury setback since joining Al Ittihad.
Plumptre, a former Leicester City player, suffered the injury during a match in March 2024, shortly after an impressive debut season in Saudi Arabia where she netted eight goals in 12 appearances.
She was sidelined for around six months following the incident.
The injury also ruled her out of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, delaying her return to international competition.
Plumptre now has her sights set on regaining full fitness ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for July, aiming to make a strong comeback for Nigeria.
