Serie A: Milan edge Torino 3-2, close gap on Inter

AC Milan cut the gap at the top of Serie A to five points after edging Torino 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at the San Siro, extending the visitors’ poor away form to six league matches without a win.

Torino began the game with real intent, creating early chances and testing Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who produced a fine save to deny Ardian Ismajli’s header. The hosts, however, gradually found their rhythm as the first half wore on.

Adrien Rabiot sparked Milan into life with a powerful effort that forced a save from Alberto Paleari, but moments later, the breakthrough arrived in spectacular fashion.

Strahinja Pavlovic unleashed a stunning long-range strike that crashed in off the crossbar to give the Rossoneri the lead.

Torino responded well and nearly equalised through Duvan Zapata, only for Maignan to come to Milan’s rescue again. Their persistence paid off just before the break when Nikola Vlasic’s effort rebounded kindly into the path of Giovanni Simeone, who calmly slotted home to level the score.

Milan emerged from the interval with renewed energy and quickly regained control. Rabiot restored their advantage after finishing from close range following a precise delivery by Christian Pulisic.

The momentum stayed with the hosts, and they doubled their lead soon after, with Youssouf Fofana finding the net despite Paleari getting a hand to his effort.

Torino refused to back down and continued to push forward, with Maignan once again making a crucial save to deny Simeone a second goal.

Their persistence was rewarded late in the game when a VAR review resulted in a penalty after Pavlovic fouled Simeone in the box. Vlasic confidently converted from the spot to set up a tense finale.

Despite late pressure from the visitors, Milan held firm to secure all three points. The victory lifts them into second place, strengthening their pursuit of the league leaders, while Torino remain in 14th, still hovering above the relegation battle.
