Onuachu hits 20th Super Lig goal as Trabzonspor beat Kayserispor 3-1

Super Eagles forward, Paul Onuachu, continued his remarkable form by scoring twice to guide Trabzonspor to a 3-1 victory over Kayserispor in their Monday Super Lig clash.

The Nigerian striker, enjoying one of the best spells of his career, extended his scoring streak to nine consecutive games against the struggling side, helping Trabzonspor notch their fourth consecutive league win.

With his brace, Onuachu now has 20 league goals this season.

Kayserispor’s day got off to a disastrous start when midfielder Dorukhan Toköz was shown a straight red card just eight minutes into the match, leaving the hosts a man down.

Trabzonspor capitalized on the advantage, netting twice before halftime to go into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Onuachu opened the scoring in added time at the end of the first half, expertly heading in a cross from Wagner Pina to put his side ahead.

Five minutes later, he converted a penalty to further extend Trabzonspor’s advantage.

The second half saw an own goal by Bilal Bayazit in the 53rd minute, giving the visitors a commanding 3-0 lead.

German Onugkha pulled one back for Kayserispor in the 83rd minute, but it proved too little, too late, as Fatih Tekke’s team comfortably held on for all three points.

The victory lifts Trabzonspor to 54 points from 25 matches, keeping them in third place, three points behind Fenerbahçe and seven behind leaders Galatasaray.

Onuachu remains the Super Lig’s top scorer, four goals clear of second-placed Eldor Shomurodov, and has now scored 22 goals in all competitions this season.
