Nice booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2025/26 Coupe de France after edging Lorient 6-5 in a nail-biting penalty shootout on March 4, 2026, following a goalless draw in regulation time.

The quarter-final clash at Stade du Ray was a tense affair, with both sides creating few clear-cut chances.

Lorient, who had been formidable at home with only one defeat in their previous 16 matches, resisted Nice’s pressure throughout 90 minutes.

Despite their solid defensive display, the match ultimately went to penalties, where the hosts held their nerve to secure the victory.

This triumph keeps Nice’s hopes alive for a first Coupe de France title since 1997, while Lorient will rue missed opportunities after a spirited performance.

Interestingly, the two sides had previously entertained fans with a thrilling 3-3 draw in Ligue 1 just two weeks earlier, highlighting the growing rivalry between them this season.

With this win, Nice advances to the semi-finals, where they will face another formidable opponent as they chase silverware in one of French football’s most prestigious competitions.
