The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said the All Progressives Congress is not made up of saints but remains a better political option for Nigeria than the Peoples Democratic Party.
Keyamo made the remark in a post on his verified X handle on Saturday while reacting to renewed circulation of a 2017 interview he granted to a blog.
He explained that parts of the earlier interview had been edited in a way that distorted his position.
“This is the unedited portion of the interview I granted in 2017, emphasising that APC may not be a party of saints, which is a fact, but it is still far better than where we were coming from,” he wrote.
The minister criticised those who he said deliberately removed part of his statement, insisting that no political party can claim moral perfection.
“I will be a fool to say APC is a party of saints, and anyone who calls any party a party of saints would also be mistaken,” he added.
Keyamo argued that despite its shortcomings, the ruling party still offers stronger prospects for the country compared to the years under PDP leadership.
“On balance, APC still holds the best hope for Nigeria. We cannot return to the era of PDP, where some of the same figures now seeking power played prominent roles,” he said.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the president did not join the PDP during its years in power.
“It was only Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who never boarded that PDP train at the time,” Keyamo stated.
