Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has pushed back against long-held public perceptions of his personal life, insisting that he is not a womaniser but someone who loves sincerely.

The award-winning singer made the clarification during a recent interview with the Voice of Nigeria, where he spoke candidly about fame, family, and the intense scrutiny that comes with life in the public eye.

Addressing the label often attached to him, 2Baba said the narrative does not reflect who he truly is.

“People think I’m a womaniser, but that’s not who I am. I like women and I’m very straightforward about it, but I’m really a lover boy. When I love, I love deeply,” he said.

The music star also opened up about fatherhood, describing the struggle of balancing his career with being present in the lives of his children. He disclosed that while he feels grateful to have eight children, he carries emotional weight over lost time.

“I’m blessed to have eight children, but sometimes it hurts that I haven’t been able to spend as much time with them as I should. That part affects me deeply,” he said.

Despite the regret, 2Baba described his children as a constant source of pride and fulfillment.

“They are brilliant, amazing people. I just wish I was around more. It comes from different angles and it really touches me,” he added.

He also responded to criticisms directed at his wife, Natasha, particularly claims that she controls his decisions.

According to the singer, such comments are often unfair and detached from reality.

“Everyone has an opinion about other people’s lives now, and sometimes those opinions can be very hurtful. My wife is a strong and brilliant woman, and the narratives out there are not always true,” he said.

Speaking further, 2Baba revealed that contrary to public perception, he is naturally reserved and introverted, noting that his profession often forces him out of his comfort zone.

“I’m actually a shy person by nature. My job doesn’t really allow that, but there are times I just want to be alone, enjoy nature, and have my quiet moments,” he explained.

The singer’s remarks have since sparked conversations online about public judgment, celebrity relationships, and the pressures of fame.
