The global gospel community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of renowned worship leader and pastor, Dr. Ron Kenoly, who died on the morning of February 3, 2026, at the age of 81.
For more than four decades, Kenoly stood at the forefront of contemporary Christian worship, leading millions around the world into moments of deep praise and reverence.
His influence stretched far beyond church auditoriums, shaping the theology and practice of modern worship across continents.
Reacting to the sad news, Bruno Miranda, Kenoly’s longtime music director and close confidant, paid an emotional tribute to the man he described as both mentor and spiritual father.
Reflecting on their decades-long journey together, Miranda said Kenoly was deliberate about redefining worship leadership.
“Dr. Kenoly never saw himself as a performer,” Miranda noted. “To him, worship was never about the spotlight. It was about guiding people into the presence of God, not showcasing talent.”
He added that Kenoly’s life offstage mirrored the depth of his ministry onstage.
“The same humility and devotion people witnessed during worship was who he was in private,” Miranda said. “He lived what he taught, that worship starts with obedience, character, and a genuine reverence for God, long before music begins.
Dr. Kenoly rose to global prominence through timeless worship projects such as Lift Him Up and Jesus Is Alive, albums that became staples in churches worldwide.
Beyond music, he was widely respected as a teacher who consistently emphasized that worship flows from gratitude rather than expectation.
“He taught us to worship God for who He is, not just for what we hope He will do,” Miranda recalled.
As tributes continue to pour in from church leaders and worshippers across the world, Miranda concluded with words of faith and hope.
“We mourn today, but our sorrow is anchored in hope. The worship he lived on earth is now the worship he experiences in glory.”
Dr. Ron Kenoly leaves behind a powerful legacy as a worship leader, pastor, and servant of God.
His life and ministry continue to inspire generations to pursue worship marked by humility, sincerity, and unwavering devotion.
