Sevilla new signing Maupay ready to partner Akor Adams in attack

Sevilla’s latest addition, Neal Maupay, has expressed his excitement at the prospect of linking up with Super Eagles striker Akor Adams in the club’s attack.

The 29-year-old joined Sevilla on a loan move from French Ligue 1 side Marseille, after a frustrating spell at the Velodrome where he featured in just three matches under Roberto De Zerbi this season.

Sevilla head coach Matías Almeyda revealed he is open to adjusting tactics to boost Akor Adams’ goal tally, with a potential front-two setup in mind.

Speaking at his unveiling, Maupay told Orgullobiri, “We can play together. We’re different, and that can help the team. We’ll give our all to win matches and make the fans happy.”

After his first training sessions, Maupay added, “Everyone is smiling, and that helps a lot. I’m ready and really looking forward to it. See you on the pitch on Monday.”

Akor Adams made his AFCON debut for the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scoring twice as Nigeria claimed the bronze medal by defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties.
