The Confederation of African Football has expressed strong disapproval over the conduct of certain players and officials during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and hosts Morocco.
Tensions flared late in the match when Morocco were awarded a penalty in the dying seconds.
Defender Malick Diouf was judged to have fouled Brahim Diaz inside the box, a decision later confirmed by VAR.
The game, however, was temporarily stopped as Senegal fans tried to storm the pitch, hurling objects in protest. Riot police intervened, removing some supporters from the field.
Senegal’s head coach, Pape Thiaw, was seen gesturing for his players to leave the pitch, but Sadio Mane called them back to take the crucial penalty.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers,” the confederation said in a statement on its official website.
The governing body added that it “is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
